Antoine Bernede wins the 2025/26 Begali Award
Verona – Following the poll held on larena.it, the winner of the seventeenth edition of the Begali Award has been announced. The award is dedicated to the memory of the great former Gialloblù player and historic Verona captain between 1949 and 1962, who passed away in 2008 and is remembered for his outstanding sportsmanship on the pitch.
Among the five finalists — Antoine Bernede, Domagoj Bradaric, Daniel Mosquera, Victor Nelsson and Amin Sarr, selected as the fairest players of the season in relation to minutes played — midfielder Antoine Bernede claimed the victory. He was presented with the award by Pier Giorgio Begali, son of Sante and creator of the prize.
“I’m very happy to receive this award,” Bernede commented. “For me, it is a great source of pride, especially because it carries the name of such an important figure in Verona’s history. I always try to give my best for the team, but also to behave fairly on the pitch, respecting both opponents and teammates. I thank all the fans for voting for me and for the support they always give us.”
Former Gialloblù defender Gianluca Falsini was instead honoured with the recognition dedicated to great former players, thus becoming part of the Indimenticabili Gialloblù ('Unforgettable Gialloblù'), an award established in 2011 with the aim of celebrating and remembering the players who, by wearing the Hellas Verona shirt, left an important mark on the Club’s history.
