Coppa Italia Frecciarossa 2026/27 | Verona wins in Cagliari to Advance to the Round of 16

Cagliari – Cagliari-Hellas Verona ended 1-2 in the Round of 32 of the 2026/27 Coppa Italia Frecciarossa.

Turning to the match report, Verona started strong in the 4th minute when Edmundsson met a corner at the near post with a glancing header, forcing a save from Radunovic.

Cagliari responded in the 11th minute as Fadera fired toward goal from the edge of the box, narrowly missing Perilli's right-hand post.

Hellas threatened again in the 20th minute: Kastanos controlled wide on the left and shot, just missing the keeper's near post.

In the 23rd minute, a turnover by Liteta sparked a gialloblù counterattack. Livramento drove down the right flank and delivered a low cross to Harroui, whose first-time strike slipped through Radunovic's legs to give Verona a 1-0 lead.

Cagliari pushed to respond in the 31st minute when Rodriguez tested Perilli with a 25-meter right-footed strike. From the resulting corner, Fazzini pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the area but blazed over from a promising position.

In the 39th minute, Sarr cut inside from the left and slipped a pass to Lella, who controlled and fired across goal with his left foot, denied by a Radunovic save.

Late in the half, Kofler rose for a header from a corner kick, but Perilli dealt with it comfortably.

After two minutes of stoppage time, the first half ended 0-1.

Early in the second half, Cagliari drew level in the 57th minute: Fadera crossed from the left, and Mendy beat Edmundsson to volley past Perilli, making it 1-1.

Verona looked to counter in the 62nd minute as Mulattieri lofted a delivery toward Sezonienko, who outjumped his marker but could not direct his header on target.

In the 73rd minute, Romano tried to catch Perilli off guard with a low, curling free-kick, but the Hellas goalkeeper was alert and parried it away.

Livramento did well to beat two defenders down the left in the 79th minute, though he could not pick out Mulattieri in the box.

Calabrese intervened crucially in the 83rd minute to block Maldini after the attacker slalomed deep into Verona's penalty area.

With Cagliari committing numbers forward, Mulattieri broke away on an 87th-minute counter. Benefiting from a ricochet off Rodriguez on the left, he found himself one-on-one with Radunovic and beat him at the near post to make it 1-2.

In the 91st minute, Maldini swung in a dangerous cross-shot from the right that Perilli pushed away. Moments later, Fadera picked out Adopo, whose header sailed off target.

In the 95th minute, Deiola shot high from the edge of the area following a decisive deflection from Edmundsson.

After five minutes of added time, the final whistle blew at 1-2. With this victory, Hellas Verona qualifies for the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, where they will face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Verona's next fixture takes place on Sunday, September 6, at 5:15 PM, when the gialloblù host Arezzo at the Stadio Bentegodi for Matchday 3 of the 2026/27 Serie BKT.
