HV Academy | Hellas and Desire FC join forces to develop young Ghanaian talent

Verona – Following previous initiatives in Senegal and Nigeria, the HV Academy project is now flying the Gialloblù flag in Ghana, thanks to a collaboration with Desire Football Club.

Starting this year, a new international club is joining the Gialloblù family, beginning a collaboration with the Club aimed at developing football skills locally and encouraging cultural exchange between different communities united by their love of the game.

Desire FC is a Ghanaian academy based in the city of Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region. In 2016, the African club launched its Youth Sector, which has gradually expanded over the years and now includes several teams ranging from Under-15 to Under-21 level.

After several years of work and commitment in the local community, the Ghanaian academy is beginning to reap the rewards of its efforts, with several of its most promising talents receiving call-ups to regional representative teams.

On Wednesday 30 September, a Desire FC delegation consisting of President Sammy Appiah and Sporting Director Salvatore Zito visited the Gialloblù Club's headquarters, bringing a team shirt as a gift.

Following the customary photo session, Desire FC President Sammy Appiah said: "I am a great fan of Italian football and I have followed Verona over the years. Several Ghanaian players have played in this city, such as Sulemana, for example. It is a great emotion for me to be here; we follow the team with great affection."

The collaboration was also made possible thanks to the involvement of Desire FC Sporting Director Salvatore Zito, who added: "Becoming part of the HV Academy project represents a source of hope for the Ashanti Region, and I believe it can inspire young people to believe in a better future through the unifying power of football. We thank Hellas for this opportunity and wish the Club all the best."
