HVFC eSport | Hellas Verona Set for eChampions League Debut Among Europe’s Elite

Verona – Tomorrow, Friday May 15, marks the start of Hellas Verona eSport’s European journey. Lucio “Hezers” Vecchione, the Gialloblù pro player, will compete in Manchester in the League Phase of the eChampions League, the opening stage of the competition featuring 36 players in a single standings table, with a format inspired by the UEFA Champions League.

A place earned on the field by the Hellas Verona player, backed by the partnership with Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP), thanks to an excellent run in the eSerie A Goleador. The campaign began with a first-place finish in the regular season group stage and continued all the way to the semifinals. The decisive moment came in the quarterfinals against Lecce, defeated 7-6 on aggregate, securing the Gialloblù Club a ticket to the European stage and the chance to approach the eChampions League with enthusiasm and ambition.

The Gialloblù player will face ‘Jorjewin’ of Levski Sofia, ‘GugaFerraz’ of Santa Clara, ‘Alihanlion’ of RB Leipzig, ‘Jafonso’ of Manchester City, ‘LuukWijdeveld’ of PSV, and ‘PHzin’ of Sporting Gijón. Six matches — three on each matchday — will determine the League Phase standings and the path toward the knockout stage.

At the end of the first two days, the top eight players will qualify directly for the Round of 16, while those finishing from ninth to twenty-fourth place will move into a preliminary playoff round to compete for the remaining eight spots in the Round of 16. The Round of 16 will also take place on the third day, with a place in the prestigious Final 8 in Budapest at stake.

“It’s always exciting to take part in an event like the eChampions League. Qualifying for this competition was one of our goals from the start of the season, and we know that the journey is only beginning now. Personally, I’m feeling good at the moment and I believe I can have an important tournament,” said ‘HezerS’ on the eve of the competition.

The tournament will be broadcast daily from 5 PM CET on EA Sports’ Twitch and YouTube channels, with live coverage running until 11 PM CET. Matches will be played simultaneously, with the broadcast production focusing on one featured match while providing updates and connections from the other game stations.
