Montorio: "Regret for the result, but the team showed character"

San Pietro in Lama (LE) – Head coach Alessandro Montorio’s comments following Lecce vs Hellas Verona, matchday 35 of the Primavera 1 2025/26 season.

Coach, what is your analysis of the match? “We’re here reflecting on a defeat that leaves some regret, especially considering how the game had unfolded. The team showed character and quality, managing to turn the result around and take the lead on a difficult pitch like Lecce’s. At that point, however, we should have managed the game better, both mentally and tactically - perhaps slowing the tempo more and handling possession with greater clarity. We paid for a few key moments and a drop in sharpness at crucial stages - these are aspects we’ll need to keep working on during the week. At the same time, we take away positive signs: the reaction, the ability to create chances, and the personality shown for long stretches of the match. The path to achieving our objectives also goes through games like this. Now we focus on the next match at home against Napoli, where I expect the maximum from the whole group".
