Primavera 1 2025/26 | Final sprint for Verona: Napoli visit the Olivieri

Verona – Three matches remain in the league for Verona, who are preparing to take the field for Matchday 36 of the Primavera 1 2025/26 season.

The opponent that coach Alessandro Montorio’s side will face is Napoli, led by Dario Rocco. The match will be played on Saturday, May 2 at 11 AM at the Olivieri Stadium in Verona.

This is the second survival match point for De Battisti and his teammates after the one they had away at Lecce. A win in Salento would have secured safety with four rounds to spare, something that seemed very close in the 50th minute after Mussola’s opening goal. However, Lecce managed to turn the game around, keeping their playoff hopes alive and postponing Verona’s objective. Hellas currently sit on 45 points, seven clear of the team in the relegation playoff spot: Napoli.

For the Neapolitans, the trip to Verona is one they cannot afford to get wrong, as it is crucial in their attempt to escape the relegation playoff zone. Napoli, newly promoted this season from Primavera 2, can no longer make mistakes and are targeting Sassuolo, currently in the safety zone with just a two-point lead. In addition to the Neroverdi, Torino (43 points) and Monza and Verona (45 points) are also within reach, with 9 points still available from the remaining three matches. In the last round, Rocco’s side came close to a major result against Inter, conceding an equalizer only in the third minute of stoppage time.

In the reverse fixture, Verona won 2-0 against Napoli thanks to first-half goals from Akale and Martini.

These were coach Alessandro Montorio’s words ahead of the match: "Against Napoli, it will be an important game against a team we respect a lot, with good technical quality and a clear playing identity. We know we’ll need a focused performance, especially in managing the different phases of the match. From our side, we want to build continuity in our journey, with particular attention to the players’ growth in personality and their ability to read game situations while maintaining the courage to play our football. I expect an intense match, where attitude and attention to detail will make the difference. The boys are working well and we want to see on the pitch what we prepare during the week, but above all the same spirit shown in Lecce and Cremona".

The referee will be Gianluca Guitaldi (AIA Rimini), assisted by Giuseppe Minutoli (AIA Messina) and Giovanni Battista Citarda (AIA Palermo).
