Primavera 1 2025/26 | In tomorrow’s early match, Verona face Inter away
Verona – After the safety secured in the last league match, Verona take the field in the early match of the 37th round of Primavera 1 2025/26.
The opponent that the boys of coach Alessandro Montorio will face is Inter, managed by Benito Carbone. The match will be played on Friday 8 May at 6 pm, at the 'Konami Youth Development Centre' in Milan.
The gialloblù arrive at tomorrow’s match after the good victory against Napoli last Saturday at the Olivieri stadium by 5-2. The Neapolitans took the lead immediately in the 7th minute with De Chiara, but Verona, one minute later, levelled the score with Mussola. In the 24th minute it was then Feola who turned the result around, making it 2-1 from the penalty spot; before the break also came the goal of Szimionas in the 41st minute, which gave Hellas a two-goal lead. In the second half, despite the goal of Gambardella for Napoli in the 65th minute, Martini took care of closing the match with a personal brace. The number 7, before last Saturday’s match, had already scored a goal in the league precisely against the azzurri in the first leg match. Thanks to this victory, Verona rise to 48 points, securing mathematical safety with two matchdays to go.
Tomorrow’s match will be crucial for the nerazzurri, who in terms of the standings are fighting for access to the playoffs. Currently, coach Carbone’s team is one point behind Atalanta, who occupy the sixth and last position valid for obtaining a place in the final phase of the championship. Inter come from a defeat and a draw in the last two matches, against Napoli and Bologna.
The first leg match between Verona and the Milan side ended with a spectacular 3-3, with goals from Akale, Szimionas and Vermesan for the home side, while for the opponents there were a brace from Mancuso and a goal from Kukulis.
These are the words of coach Alessandro Montorio on the eve of the match: "We face Inter away, who are a team of great value, very well organised and used to playing high-level matches. They will certainly be hungry and eager to get points to access the playoffs and therefore, for us, it will be an important test, but also a great opportunity to measure the growth of the group. During the week I have seen concentration, spirit of sacrifice and the usual desire to compete, and this gives me confidence. We know that intensity, attention to detail and personality will be needed, because against Inter you cannot allow drops, but surely also the light-heartedness and freshness of our moment can be useful allies to perform well. We want to play a courageous match, respecting the opponent but without giving up our identity. In these matches the boys have the opportunity to show character, maturity and quality, and this is what I expect to see tomorrow in Milan."
The referee of the match will be Andrea Bortolussi (AIA Section of Nichelino), while the assistants will be Francesco Tagliaferri (AIA Section of Faenza) and Tommaso Mambelli (AIA Section of Cesena).
