Primavera 1 2026/27 | Heart and pride in Turin: Verona come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2

Verona – Torino-Hellas Verona ended 2-2 in Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 Primavera 1.

Turning to the match action, Torino made a strong start and took the lead in the 7th minute from a free-kick on the left. Luongo showed himself on the edge of the box, where he was picked out by Conzato. The No. 10 was allowed to control the ball and curled an effort towards the near post. Borghi stretched to his left but could not get to the ball, which found the back of the net to put Torino 1-0 up.

In the 11th minute, Conzato was played through on the right and cut inside onto his left foot, narrowly missing the far post.

Torino continued to put the Gialloblù defence under pressure. In the 15th minute, Banse got away down the left and delivered a dangerous cross, which was dealt with in two attempts by Contarini and Peci. The ball fell to Liema Olinga on the edge of the box, but he fired over.

In the 23rd minute, Hellas began to threaten going forward. Akale took matters into his own hands, taking on two opponents and beating them with a superb dribble before being closed down as he prepared to shoot. Shortly afterwards, Bisoffi won a free-kick on the right. Contarini delivered into the box from the resulting set piece, but Cereser comfortably claimed the ball.

Pavanel’s side continued to grow into the game. In the 27th minute, Gardin rose to meet a cross from the right, with Cereser making a comfortable save.

Just as the Gialloblù appeared to have settled into the game, Torino doubled their lead. A superb ball from Gatto down the right picked out Conzato, who outpaced Contarini before firing a powerful effort towards the far post. Borghi had no chance as Torino made it 2-0.

After doubling their advantage, Torino controlled possession and limited Pavanel’s side in their attempts to push forward. In stoppage time at the end of the first half, the Gialloblù had a chance to reduce the deficit: Bisoffi produced a fine individual move on the right, beating an opponent before unleashing a powerful effort. Cereser, alert, turned the ball behind for a corner, from which no Gialloblù player was able to trouble the Granata goalkeeper.

After two minutes of added time, the first half ended with Torino leading 2-0.

After the restart, Verona set about finding a goal to get back into the match. In the 48th minute, Akale cut inside from the left and shot towards goal, but Cereser made the save.

The best chance to reduce the deficit came in the 56th minute through Garofalo. The Gialloblù No. 6 made a run into the box, controlled a ball from the edge of the area with his chest and struck a right-footed volley, but got too much of a curl on the effort and missed the target by a matter of centimetres.

In the 61st minute, Verona threatened again from a corner. Zanin played it short to Bisoffi, who struck first time but could not find a decisive touch at the far post.

Torino looked to put the game beyond doubt on the counter-attack. In the 74th minute, Luongo played Conzato through, with the winger on the right cutting the ball back for Befani. The Granata No. 18 fired over.

Shortly afterwards, Verona got themselves back into the game. In the 77th minute, Jatta played a short pass from the left to Akale, who beat Tchamda with a clever body feint before curling a left-footed effort into the far corner, beyond Cereser.

Verona believed in the comeback and continued to attack in search of an equaliser, which arrived in the 86th minute thanks to another superb piece of play from Akale. The Gialloblù winger collected the ball on the edge of the box and picked out Zanin in the centre with a perfect assist. The No. 14 controlled the ball before firing a powerful effort under the crossbar to level the score at the Centro Sportivo Robaldo.

Late in the match, Pavanel’s side continued to push for the complete comeback. In the 90+2nd minute, Hellas came close to making it 3-2 thanks to another piece of individual brilliance from Akale, who burst between three opponents before playing a short pass to Musat. The Romanian striker stretched to get a toe to the ball, beating the Granata goalkeeper but narrowly missing the target.

After six minutes of added time, the match ended 2-2.
