Turning to the match report, the first chance went to Genoa in the 6th minute: Lafont’s header looped high off a cross from Lauricella, but Borghi handled it without trouble.

Verona responded in the 11th minute with their first clear opening. Casagrande broke down the left flank, beat his marker, and surged toward goal, unleashing a right-footed strike from the edge of the final third that brushed past the top corner. In the 17th minute, Casagrande won a dangerous free kick just outside the penalty box. On the set piece, Moisa laid the ball off short to the Gialloblù number 19, whose low drive was smothered on the ground by Baccelli.
