Primavera 1 2026/27 | Lecce beat Verona 0-2

Verona - Hellas Verona-Lecce ended 0-2 in Matchday 6 of the 2026/27 Primavera 1 championship.

Getting into the match report, Verona started strong, creating early danger down the right flank. In the 3rd minute, Garofalo played Bisoffi through; Bisoffi took on and beat Trio with a feint, but his strike was blocked at the crucial moment by a recovery challenge from Palomares.

In the 6th minute, Costa Pisani sent a long throw-in into the box for Buniotto, who flicked it on for Intrabartolo. The number 8 headed from close range but could not find the target.

Lecce made their first foray toward Borghi in the 10th minute, when Vitale went for an overhead kick on a loose ball at mid-height around the edge of the Gialloblù box, without troubling the Brazilian goalkeeper.

In the 14th minute, Casagrande led a Verona counter-attack, driving the ball to the edge of the area before hitting a central left-footed strike safely into the hands of the Lecce keeper.

The Apulian side threatened again in the 16th minute as Laerke slipped past Costa Pisani on the left wing and whipped in a cross for Perrone, who fired over the bar with his left foot from close range.

In the 18th minute, Albertini produced a crucial defensive intervention on Perrone once more, preventing him from getting a clean shot on goal off a through ball from Flies at the edge of the box.

The Gialloblù kept attacking down the right: Albertini hit a long pass to Bisoffi, who teed up the trailing Casagrande. The number 19 finished the move with a low, angled right-footed strike, but Penev was alert and made the stop.

In the 31st minute, Laerke delivered directly from a corner kick to Longo's head at the far post. The central defender nodded it back across the face of goal for Onyemachi, who headed over from the edge of the six-yard box.

Late in the first half, Vitale, from the right edge of the penalty area, delivered an outside-of-the-boot cross for Onyemachi, who made no mistake and headed past Borghi. The deadlock was broken in the 42nd minute with Lecce taking the lead.

After 1 minute of stoppage time, the first half ended 0-1.

In the second half, Lecce came close to doubling their advantage within 120 seconds, as Di Pasquale grazed the top of the crossbar with a central free kick.

In the 54th minute, Vitale made an attacking run to head a cross from the left, narrowly missing the right post of Borghi's goal.

Amid a flurry of substitutions midway through the second half, substitute Zanin caused problems with a left-footed strike from the edge of the box, though he failed to get enough angle on the shot. Zanin fed Casagrande again in the 62nd minute, but the Gialloblù forward couldn't capitalize, sending a curling right-footed effort high and wide of Penev's right post.

In the 63rd minute, Laerke exploited a Lecce break to set up Onyemachi, who fired high from a promising position.

The game's turning point came in the 74th minute when Albertini, already booked, received a second yellow card for dissent, reducing Hellas to 10 men.

In the 81st minute, despite the numerical disadvantage, the Gialloblù threatened when Buniotto rose highest on a free kick delivered by Zanin, but his header missed the target. With both teams stretched, Lecce counter-attacked down the left as the number 11 shot just wide from the left corner of the box.

In the 89th minute, the Giallorossi doubled their lead when Persano met Trio's cross with a header, beating Borghi from close range to make it 0-2.

In stoppage time, a foul inside the Verona box by Mussola on Vitale resulted in a penalty for Lecce. Di Pasquale stepped up to the spot and aimed for the bottom right corner, but Borghi produced a diving save. After 6 minutes of added time, the match ended 0-2.

Verona's next fixture will be on Sunday, October 18 at 1:00 PM, when the Gialloblù travel to face Como in Matchday 7 of the 2026/27 Primavera 1 championship.
