Primavera 1 2026/27 | Verona Hosts Monza at the Olivieri

Verona – The Gialloblù host Monza for Matchday 3 of the 2026/27 Primavera 1 championship.

In the same week they secured their first win, a 1-0 triumph away to reigning Italian champions Fiorentina, coach Pavanel's side look to build on their standout performance at Viola Park.

In their previous fixture, Verona capitalized on their chances during the opening 15 minutes of the second half, when a corner from Peci led to a decisive own goal by Atzeni. The Gialloblù, who had already threatened when De Rossi struck the post in the 47th minute, repelled wave after wave of Tuscan attacks down the stretch, showing solid compactness and team spirit.

For the upcoming match, Hellas will be without Cavazza, who was sent off in the closing stages against Fiorentina and handed a one-match ban. Coach Pavanel was also dismissed in the final minutes and will be barred from the touchline, leaving assistant coach Manuel Spinale to lead the side. Alongside recent signings Musat and Kone, who featured in the last game, Tommaso Casagrande has also rejoined the squad following his stint at the Mediterranean Games.

Monza arrives at the Stadio Olivieri tomorrow, Sunday, September 6 (3:00 PM), following a home defeat to Genoa. The Biancorossi are still seeking their first points of the campaign, having also dropped their season opener away to Roma.

Led by head coach Luciano Vulcano, the Brianzoli finished 14th in Primavera 1 last season with 47 points, just one point behind Verona. However, those early-season results should not mislead the Gialloblù: Monza has already squared off against two top-tier sides that remain on maximum points, putting in respectable displays against both Roma and Genoa.

Coach Pavanel shared his pre-match thoughts: "Sunday's match must serve to give real value to our performance in Florence. We need to back up the good things we did and improve in the specific moments where we fell short. We have to test our mental sharpness to steer our campaign in the right direction. Pitfalls and challenges are right around the corner; we must remain humble and understand there can be no difference in approach whether we face Fiorentina or any other side. Monza is not an easy team to read, but they bring tremendous dynamism. They defend very well and hit on the break, which can be lethal when you're hosting them at home. I'm eager to see if we can take that next step forward and approach Monza the right way. We're recovering key players who will give us extra weapons to compete."

Andrea Terribile (Bassano del Grappa AIA section) will officiate the match, assisted by Alex Scaldaferro (Vicenza AIA section) and Mateo Sadikaj (Mestre AIA section).
