Serie BKT 2026/27 | Modena win 3-2 at the 'Braglia'
Modena – Modena-Hellas Verona ended in a 3-2 defeat for the Gialloblù on Matchday 6 of Serie BKT 2026/27.
Both sides made a strong start, each creating a shooting opportunity in the opening two minutes. For Verona, Livramento controlled the ball on the edge of the box and turned to shoot, sending his effort over the bar. At the other end, Modena worked the ball back to Brugman, whose long-range effort flew well wide of Perilli's goal.
In the 12th minute, Ambrosino lost possession in midfield, allowing Iannoni to win the ball and play Livramento through on goal. The Cape Verdean forward controlled the ball before striking powerfully, but his effort sailed over the bar.
Modena responded by taking the lead in the 13th minute. Brugman played the ball out to Caso on the left. The No. 10 took on Zappa, cut inside onto his right foot and fired across goal into the near post to make it 1-0.
Verona immediately went in search of an equaliser, with Zappa coming close to making it 1-1 in the 17th minute. Following a scramble inside the Canarini's box, the ball fell to the Gialloblù full-back, who struck first time. His effort took a deflection off Caso before Chichizola turned it behind for a corner.
In the 23rd minute, Hellas drew level. Iannoni won possession, carried the ball forward and played it wide to the left for Sarr. The Gialloblù No. 9 cut inside and unleashed a dangerous right-footed shot, which Chichizola could only parry into the middle of the box. Mosquera pounced on the rebound and, after another instinctive save from the home goalkeeper, managed to force the ball over the line with his knee. It was 1-1 at the 'Braglia'.
Modena were rocked by the equaliser, and Verona turned the game around just five minutes later. Chichizola hesitated when playing out from the back and gifted possession to De Battisti. The Gialloblù No. 71 tried to catch the goalkeeper off his line with a lob from 25 metres, but his effort struck the crossbar. Mosquera was once again quickest to react, slotting home the rebound to put Hellas 2-1 ahead.
The hosts looked to respond. In the 35th minute, Ambrosino carried the ball to the edge of the box before shooting with his left foot, but he failed to get enough power behind the effort, which went wide of Perilli's goal.
A minute later, Caso tried again with a move similar to the one that had produced the opening goal. After a one-two involving Santoro, Ambrosino and Caso, the latter attempted to curl the ball towards the far post from the edge of the box, but his shot went wide.
In the final seconds of the two minutes of added time, Modena came close to equalising from an Olzer free-kick. The midfielder's delivery found Santoro, whose header narrowly missed the post to Perilli's left.
After two minutes of added time, the first half ended with Verona leading 2-1.
After the break, Verona threatened from a corner. Sarr delivered the ball into the box, where Edmundsson rose highest to meet it with a header, but Chichizola gathered comfortably. The Modena goalkeeper quickly launched a counter-attack, finding Ambrosino in behind. The forward raced into the box and laid the ball off to Caso, who struck firmly from close range, only for Perilli to read the shot and gather at the second attempt.
In the 56th minute, Ambrosino once again led a counter-attack for the Canarini. He exchanged passes with Belotti on the edge of the box before shooting towards the top corner, sending the ball over the bar.
Five minutes later, Modena found the net to make it 2-2, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Brugman played a long ball forward to Caso, who crossed from the left for Tonoli arriving in support. The home defender beat Perilli from close range, but the referee disallowed the goal because Caso had been in an offside position. The score remained 1-2 to Verona.
Modena continued to press and threaten from distance. In the 66th minute, Ambrosino received the ball at the left corner of the box and curled an effort towards the far post, narrowly missing the target.
Hellas also threatened again. In the 71st minute, substitute Bradaric delivered a cross, which Sarr headed down for Edmundsson, only for the Faroese defender to be beaten to the ball. Dawidowicz then attempted an acrobatic effort from the loose ball but failed to hit the target.
In the 78th minute, Verona were reduced to ten men. Edmundsson, already booked for handling the ball, committed the same offence again and received a second yellow card, bringing his match to an early end.
Modena took advantage in the 85th minute, restoring parity at 2-2. Caso received the ball on the left, cut inside onto his right foot and crossed into the box. Substitute Montevago rose highest and powered a header down past Perilli.
In the 95th minute, Modena completed the comeback. Caso delivered another cross from the left. Slotsager got a touch with his head, but the ball reached Belotti at the far post, where he finished to make it 3-2 for the home side.
After five minutes of added time, the match ended in a 3-2 victory for Modena.
Verona's next fixture will take place on Friday 16 October at 8.30PM, when the Gialloblù host Catanzaro at the 'Bentegodi' on Matchday 7 of Serie BKT 2026/27.
