Youth Sector | Tommaso Casagrande crowned European champion with Italy U17s

Verona - The 2026 UEFA European Under-17 Championship has come to an end with Italy lifting the trophy. Among the young Azzurri crowned European champions was Hellas Verona Primavera and Under-17 striker Tommaso Casagrande, who played an important role throughout the tournament that led the Italian national team to continental glory.

Today's final against Belgium was decided only after a penalty shootout. After Belgium had taken the lead through Cobiella in the 85' minute, the Azzurrini found an equaliser deep into stoppage time thanks to Fugazzola's penalty in the 90'+1' minute, making it 1-1. Introduced in the 58' minute, Tommaso Casagrande made a strong impact off the bench and then proved decisive in the shootout, converting one of the penalties that helped Italy secure victory and claim the European title.

After finishing top of their group ahead of France, Denmark and Montenegro, the Gialloblù striker had already played a key role in the semi-final against Spain, scoring in the penalty shootout that sent the Azzurrini through to the final.

Everyone at Hellas Verona congratulates Tommaso Casagrande on winning the European Championship.
