Youth Sector | Verona and Inter Play Out a Goalless Draw in the First Leg of the Under-17 Playoff Quarter-Finals

Verona – The first leg of the National Under-17 Championship Playoff Quarter-Finals between Hellas Verona and Inter ended 0-0 at the Tavellin Stadium.

The match started in balanced fashion, with few chances for either side. Verona created the first real opportunity in the 11th minute when Egharevba, meeting a cross from the left, got to the ball ahead of Galliera but headed wide of the target.

The key moments of the first half came from Casagrande. The newly crowned Italy Under-17 European champion came close to scoring twice: first with a header in the 28th minute and then with a powerful long-range effort in the 33rd minute, but neither attempt found the back of the net.

After the break, both teams continued to play openly, although Inter struggled to trouble Raccanello. In the 77th minute, Egharevba won a dangerous free-kick, with Zanolli stepping up and curling a left-footed effort over the wall, only to miss the target.

Inter's only real chance came in the 80th minute when Dade Lombardi tried to beat the Verona goalkeeper from a tight angle, but Raccanello reacted well to concede a corner.

The best opportunity of the match arrived in the closing stages. Verona launched a counter-attack that saw Samba Sy break into the penalty area, but his shot was denied by an excellent save from Galliera, preserving the final score of 0-0.

The second leg will be played at the Konami Sport Center in Milan on 17 June at 5:30 p.m. Verona, coached by Fabio Moro, will need to score one goal more than Inter to advance. In the event of another draw, the Nerazzurri would progress thanks to their superior regular-season finish.
