
Cheikh Niasse is a new Yellow-Blue midfielder
Verona - Hellas Verona FC announces the acquisition - on loan with the obligation to buy back under certain conditions - from Young Boys AG the registration of French midfielder Cheikh Niasse.
Born on 19th January 2000 in Gossas, Senegal, he moved to France at a young age and at the age of 18, in the 2018/2019 season he began his experience in the Youth Sector of Lille, being aggregated to the B formation of the Club, in the French fourth league. During his first season, he made 24 appearances and scored two goals, while in his second season, in addition to 16 appearances with Lille B, he also played six matches in the Youth League, scoring one goal, and made his first-team debut in the 28th August Ligue 1 match, won 3-0 against Saint-Étienne.
During the 2020/21 season, he also made his Europa League debut, on 10th December 2020, in the 3-2 defeat against Celtic. On 1st February 2021, he was loaned to Panathīnaïkos until the end of the season, making 13 league appearances and two in the Kypello Ellados, Greece's national cup.
In July 2021, he returned to Lille and was permanently attached to the first team, managing to collect 5 appearances between Ligue 1 and Coupe de France. In the winter market session of that season, on 3rd February 2022, he was bought outright by Young Boys, a team from the Swiss top league.
With the Bern team, he won two consecutive championships, in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons, and became a key player in the team, making 56 appearances in two seasons, and 5 assists. In addition to the two championships, he won the Swiss Cup in the 2022/2023 season, also playing in the final against Lugano, which he won 3-2. Thanks to these results, Young Boys qualified for the Champions League, where Niasse made his debut on 9th September 2023, in the 1-3 defeat against Leipzig. In the top European competition, the French player collected 13 appearances and 2 assists in two seasons.
During the current 2024/2025 season, he played 24 matches between league and cup competitions before his arrival at Verona.
