Serie B Femminile 2026/27 | Gialloblù set for league opener against Lumezzane tomorrow

Verona – The Gialloblù are ready to take to the field for their first league match of the season.

Following their defeat against Moncalieri in the opening match of the season in the Coppa Italia Women, Coach De Martino’s side are preparing for their Serie B Femminile debut. Their first opponents will be Lumezzane, coached by Nicoletta Mazza, with the match scheduled to take place at the Tullio Saleri Stadium in Lumezzane on Sunday 6 September at 3PM. The match will be available to watch live on VivoAzzurro TV.

The league format remains unchanged from last season: a single round-robin group consisting of 14 teams, who will face each other home and away over a total of 26 matchdays. At the end of the season, the team finishing first will be promoted to Serie A, while the bottom two sides will be relegated to Serie C. This season, Moncalieri and Catania, promoted last season, have joined the division. Como 1907, who won last season’s title and secured promotion to the top flight, will no longer be part of the league, while Genoa have been relegated from Serie A.

Despite the 2-0 defeat suffered in the Coppa Italia Women preliminary round, the Gialloblù created several goalscoring opportunities but were unable to convert them. The aim will be to get the league campaign off to the best possible start, building on the positive signs shown both in training and in the opening matches of the season, including the 4-2 friendly win over Parma.

Lumezzane, who finished second in last season’s Serie B Femminile, are yet to play an official match in the 2026/27 season. During their pre-season preparations, they played two friendlies against Parma and Milan, losing 2-0 and 6-0, respectively.

These are the words of Coach Vincenzo De Martino ahead of the match: “We have worked well, with great focus and concentration. We have concentrated on our principles of play, trying to arrive at the match in the best possible condition, both physically and mentally. Attention, intensity and the ability to stay in the game for 90 minutes will be important. I expect an intense, hard-fought match, with very few moments when we can afford to lose concentration. We need to be good at imposing our style of play and reading the different situations that may arise during the game. We want to approach the match with personality and try to bring home a positive result. Lumezzane are a very strong and aggressive team and deserve our respect, but we have to focus on what we can do, aware of our own qualities.”

The referee for the match will be Nicolò Trombello (Como AIA Section), assisted by Niccolò Cantile (Treviglio AIA Section) and Andrea Lattarulo (Treviglio AIA Section).
