Serie BKT 2026/27 | It ends in a draw between Verona and Pisa at the 'Bentegodi'

Verona - Hellas Verona-Pisa ended in a 1-1 draw on Matchday 8 of the 2026/27 Serie BKT season.

Coming to the match report, after just 60 seconds, the gialloblù posed an immediate threat near Confente’s goal: Sarr found a well-positioned Mosquera from a corner, whose header shaved the crossbar.

In the 3rd minute, Kastanos was given room to advance to the edge of the final third, unleashing a low, central strike that was easily gathered by the Tuscan side's goalkeeper.

The match’s first major chance arrived in the 11th minute, when Correia released Rao on a counter-attack against an exposed Verona backline. The number 17 breezed past Zappa with pace, cut inside onto his right foot, and let fly from the edge of the box; the shot struck both posts consecutively behind Perilli without ever crossing the goal line.

In the 17th minute, the visitors threatened once again: Correia, lurking at the back post, sent the ball over from close range following a deflection off Rao’s corner kick.

Hellas pushed forward again from a corner in the 20th minute: this time Iannoni rose highest, but his header remained central and comfortable for Confente.

In the 25th minute, Livramento broke through a scramble inside the nerazzurri box, wrapping up the move with an outside-of-the-boot effort that missed the target.

In the 28th minute, Calabresi tried his luck from long range after a sustained passing sequence, but his strike drifted wide to the right under Perilli's watchful eye.

In the 38th minute, Verona misplayed their clearance, allowing Pisa to capitalize through Petagna, who slipped an outside-of-the-foot pass from a central position into the path of Rao surging down the left. The nerazzurro forward was denied just as he pulled the trigger by a crucial sliding tackle from Edmundsson, who thwarted the danger just steps from Perilli.

The final opportunity of the first half belonged to Pisa: Moreo spearheaded a counter-attack and played it into the run of Zanon, whose first-time effort met a sharp response from Perilli.

Following 2 minutes of stoppage time, the first half ended 0-0.

After the break, Hellas needed only 6 minutes to break the deadlock. From a free-kick on the left, Sarr whipped in an inswinging delivery met by Iannoni, who expertly flicked his header past Confente.

In the 62nd minute, substitute Marras headed toward goal from a corner, forcing Perilli to dive low and hold.

Verona mounted pressure midway through the second half: Suslov wriggled free on the right wing with a piece of skill and played a dangerous ball across, which Sarr missed by mere inches.

In the 77th minute, Loyola fired a trailing effort from the edge of the area, whistling past Perilli’s left post, though the referee halted play for an initial offside.

Three minutes later, Moreo hooked a loose ball over the bar following a corner, aided by a vital deflection into touch by Dawidowicz.

Pisa continued to push forward and found the equalizer in the 84th minute: Marras pounced on a cross sent in from the left by Angori. After several deflections, the ball ricocheted to the feet of number 23, who struck first-time, planting it into the top corner to restore parity.

In the closing stages, Lella, who had come on for Suslov, lunged in with studs raised on Pittarello, earning a straight red card and leaving Verona down to 10 men for the final moments. After 5 minutes of stoppage time, the match drew to a close at 1-1.

Verona’s next fixture will be on Wednesday, October 28 at 8:00 PM, when the gialloblù travel away to face Juve Stabia for Matchday 9 of the 2026/27 Serie BKT season.
