Primavera 1 2024/25 | The Gialloblù return to Olivieri stadium and take on Fiorentina
Verona - The season gets into full swing and this weekend sees the gameweek 32 of the Primavera 1 2024/25 championship, with the Gialloblù determined to continue their playoff run.
The opponent that coach Paolo Sammarco's boys face this week is coach Daniele Galloppa's Fiorentina. The match will be played on Sunday, April 6 at 1 PM at the ‘Olivieri’ stadium in Verona.
In the last fixture of the championship, the Gialloblù earned another 3 fundamental points on the Genoa pitch. Arboscello's goal in the 3rd minute was answered by Pavanati with a right-foot volley in the 24th minute, which closed the first half with the score at 1-1. In the second half, two minutes from the final whistle, Nwachukwu then gave his team the victory, thanks to a header scored on the rebound after a great free kick from 25 meters by Agbonifo. Thanks to this victory, the Gialloblù have increased their points in the standings to 49, -2 from Milan, who on the last day were defeated in the home match against Sampdoria. Further away, at 55 points, are Juventus, who currently occupy fifth place. Lazio and Genoa, Verona's main pursuers, are at 47 and 44 points respectively, and this weekend they will be called upon to face two difficult challenges: the Biancocelesti against Inter, while the Rossoblù against Lecce.
Fiorentina, despite failing to find victory in their last five games, are still firmly in the play-off zone with 57 points. The Viola, reigning champions of the Coppa Italia Primavera thanks to their penalty shootout victory over Torino last year, are just the latest in a streak of six consecutive clashes against direct opponents or teams that are already in the play-off zone, from which Verona has so far obtained 11 points. The Tuscan team, with 62 goals, is third in goals scored. The best players in the opposing squad are in fact positioned in the offensive zone, in particular in the midfield led by Tommaso Rubino. The 2006-born player, who this season also made his debut in Serie A and the UEFA Conference League with the First Team coached by Palladino, has so far scored 13 goals and provided 6 assists. Maat Daniel Caprini, a left winger who played his first minutes in Serie A against Verona on February 23, has instead contributed to 12 goals.
These are the words of coach Paolo Sammarco: "On Sunday we host Fiorentina, certainly one of the best teams in the league, with very important players who are doing really well. We are aware that it will be a difficult challenge, which will test us, but we come to this match with two consecutive victories that have given us an important boost especially in terms of self-confidence. We trained well again this week and studied our opponents, knowing that they have so many strengths. I am convinced that the boys will go out on the field to try to play the game as always and prove that we deserve that position in the standings. We will try to do our best until the end to win as many points as possible."
Referee of the match will be Jules Roland Andeng Tona Mbei (AIA Section of Cuneo), while assistants will be Glauco Zanellati (AIA Section of Seregno) and Mattia Morotti (AIA Section of Bergamo).
